Joel Reed, the former Chair of the Municipal Land Use Board (MLUB) and the Planning Board, submitted his resignation which was accepted at the January 20th Mayor & Council meeting by Mayor Joe Accardi.
At the first annual meeting of the MLUB, Mr. Reed was not appointed nor nominated to Chair a board he has led for, at least, the last four years. After the appointment of Loren Harms as the Chair, Mr. Reed proceeded to abstain from every vote with the exception of the appointments of the Board Clerk and Board Attorney – both of which he voted ‘yes’ for.
During the appointments, the former Chair wrote on a piece of paper and walked over to Mayor Accardi and placed it in front of him. The mayor immediately turned the paper over and returned it to Mr. Reed who remained silent for the rest of the meeting.
His resignation now leaves two (2) vacancies for the MLUB. Anyone interested in joining can fill out a Citizens Service Form (link), which can be filled out online, and/or contact Borough Hall at (908) 245-6222 or the Mayor’s Office at (908) 245-6180.
