At 11:51 a.m. on Monday, February 4th, Roselle Park Police responded to Hexacon Electric located on 161 West Clay Avenue for a report of an industrial accident. The caller reported a male employee, a 48-year-old Linden resident, had his arm trapped in a milling machine.
Patrolmen Harold Breuninger and Mitchell White responded and found the victim suffering from a large wound to his right arm. The officers provided emergency medical care and secured a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Union County EMS (Emergency Medical Services) and Trinitas ALS (Advanced Life Support) responded and transported the victim to University Hospital in Newark.
An investigation revealed that the man was working by himself on a copper milling machine when his arm became caught in the machine. The victim’s co-workers came to his aid by shutting down the machine and prying him free. The Roselle Park Police Department is assisting NJ OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) with the investigation.
