On March 27, 2011 at approximately 1:37 a.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord observed a blue Ford Explorer – eastbound on West Westfield Avenue – make a left turn onto Locust Street (northbound) on the red turn arrow. A motor vehicle stop was initiated on Locust Street at West Grant Avenue.
The driver identified himself as William J. Brown, III and advised Patrolman Gaylord that he did not have his license and that he was a suspended driver. Mr. Brown also had two (2) outstanding warrants from Jersey City for $850 and $100, and one (1) from Bayonne for $561.00. Mr. Brown was placed under arrest. Incident to his arrest, Brown was found to be in possession of one (1) small clear yellow Ziplock bag containing a suspected CDS; marijuana.
Mr. Brown was charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana) and issued the following motor vehicle summonses: 39:4-81 (failure to observe signal); 39:3-40 (driving on suspended driver’s license); and 39:4-49.1 (CDS in a motor vehicle). He was released upon posting bail pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of April 5, 2011.
