On Monday, December 13, 2010 at 9:32 a.m., all available units responded to the 600 block of Locust Street on a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the suspect was reported to have already left the house. Union County Sheriff K-9 Officer Kevin Buckley and his K-9 responded to the scene. The dog tracked a scent from the door, south on Locust Street to West Grant Avenue, west to Cheigo Place, then back east on West Westfield Avenue to Locust Street, where the scent was lost.
The actor remains at large.
At the house, the resident stated that while watching television, someone knocked on the side door. The actor knocked a second time, then the resident heard a loud crash.
The resident observed a white male, about 35 to 40 years of age, wearing a ¾ length tweed jacket and a dress hat. The actor entered the dining room and then went into an adjacent bedroom. The resident called police at that time and the suspect fled out the same door.
It is unclear if anything was taken at this time.
Detective Sergeant Manuel Jimenez stated, “We ask residents to be extra observant during the holiday season, when burglaries and thefts tend to increase in frequency. Any suspicious activity or unlicensed solicitors should be reported to police immediately.”
Detective Keith Wintermute is investigating this case.
