A Roselle Park teenager passed away this morning. The details of the tragedy, as well as the young man’s name, are not available to the general public at this time but the Roselle Park High School will be open starting at 10 a.m. to help the community cope with its loss.
The following is from a communication from the high school to parents:
This morning, very early, our school experienced the sudden death of one of our students. We are deeply saddened by this loss and have our crisis management team in place to help your children with their reactions to this tragedy. You can help your child by listening carefully, not overreacting, accepting their feelings and answering questions as honestly as you can. I cannot disseminate specific information unfortunately at this time but more information will be forthcoming.
I am writing this e-mail to alert you of this sad matter so that if you do hear of this through your son or daughter you know that the school is aware of this and here to support you. The high school will be opening beginning at 10 a.m. for parents, students, and staff. Students effected and their parents are encouraged to meet here to mourn this tragedy.
RPHS principal Sara Costa re-iterated that guidance counselors will be available, “The school is open beginning at 10 a.m. to meet and celebrate the life of this student as well as help Roselle Park mourn its loss.”
For the sake of privacy, safety, and out of respect for the family, it is recommended that the community assemble at the high school and nowhere else.
