On August 21, 2011 at approximately 12:56 a.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord observed a silver VW Beetle traveling westbound on East Webster Avenue in violation of New Jersey Motor Vehicle statute 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps / front headlight not working). A motor vehicle stop resulted in the discovery of a clear 16 oz. Snapple bottle, half-full with an unknown liquid. Further investigation led to the discovery the liquid had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
The passenger, Alexa Lance, age 19 of Roselle Park, was arrested and charged with 2C:33-15(a) (possession of alcohol under the age of 21); 39:4-51(b) (open container of alcohol in vehicle). The driver was issued summonses for 39:3-10 (unlicensed driver) and 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps). Ms. Lance was released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date on September 1, 2011.
