The governing body approved a handbook that is not only helpful to elected officials but also to residents who want information on their local government. The 23-page guide “is intended to provide a working understanding of the array of information needed to represent and serve the municipality.” as stated in the introduction of the document. It follows the governing body’s desire to be more transparent to the public while informing those who have been voted by the people to represent them.
The handbook includes information on department heads, contracts with local unions, those who provide services to the borough, committees, resolutions, ordinances, meetings, public records, purchasing, finance protocols, ethics, the municipal budget, Robert’s Rules of Order, links, and commonly used acronyms.
The government document was approved by resolution at the March 15th meeting and will be – at a minimum – readopted by the governing body at its annual Reorganization Meeting.
