Fundraiser For Miguel Martinez On June 17th

A fundraiser party has been planned to help raise the necessary funds in order to modify Miguel’s van so he can be more mobile and hopefully return to his military job on Saturday, June 17th, from 4 p.m. till 7 o’clock in the evening.

Almost a year ago – on July 13, 2016 – Miguel Martinez was involved in a motorcycle accident that has left him in a wheelchair. Miguel is a long-time Roselle Park resident who graduated from RPHS in 2013. Two years later, he enrolled in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Reserves to serve his country. The accident has significantly impacted his ability to continue his with the Marine Corps.

The outside event will be hosted in the yard of 824 Larch Street, the home of Fifth Ward Councilman Thomas ‘Thos’ Shipley and Council-At-Large candidate and Mayor Emeritus Joseph DeIorio.

Along with hamburgers and hot dogs (prepared by Killa Seasoning), there will be soda, water, wine, sangria, and beer. Musical performances by Thos Shipley and Angelyse Estevez are scheduled for the event. Local authors Eric Estevez and Karen Alvarado will also be at the event with signed copies of their book “According To Chacho” – a portion of which will be donated to help convert Miguel’s van to be wheelchair accessible. Dr. Wendy Sweeney will also have 4 Paws’ veterinary mobile unit (link) on hand.

A $20 minimum donation for the fundraiser is requested and can be in cash, check, or through PayPal (link). Checks can be made payable to:
