The Casano Community Center will be offering a free martial arts program to Roselle Park residents. The program will begin Tuesday, December 5th, and will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Registration is currently open and will be limited to 20 students per class. The program is for middle school students only. Although the program is free, students will be responsible for purchasing their own uniform and gear.
Students will be trained in a basic form of Karate and Jiu-Jitsu, incorporating punches and kicks along with throws, locks, and takedowns. The training is designed to increase timing, strength, speed, along with building stamina. Students will be instructed how to defend themselves against various forms of confrontations. It will include multiple attackers, grapplers, boxers, street fighters, and weapon attacks.
The classes will be instructed by Carl Pluchino – founder of Seikei Jiu-Jitsu – and his son Daniel Pluchino.
