Free Financial Workshop For Parents Of Children With Special Needs On May 4th

On Monday, May 4th, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Roselle Park resident Darwin Roman will be holding a Financial Workshop for Parents of Children with Special Needs. The workshop is free and will take place at American Legion Post 60. located at 34 East Westfield Avenue.

All parents are concerned for the financial well-being of their children as they become adults. That concern is tenfold for families who have children with Special Needs. The workshop will address concerns and questions regarding the financial future of such children.

Roselle Park resident and presenter Darwin Roman is a Financial Services Professional from the National Life Group and, for him, this is also a personal issue.

“No one can predict the future,” Darwin said about his personal inspiration to provide such information to others. He spoke of a family member who suffers from Neurofibromatosis. It is a disorder that creates tumors all over the body which, unfortunately in his aunt’s case, developed in her brain at age 11. Several brain surgeries left her mentally disabled. She is now 48 years old and living with his aging grandparents who are now expressing concern about the future. Darwin commented, “Their regret is not having serious conversations regarding planning ahead financially and seeking advice from professionals.”

Being a very tight-knit family, Darwin knows that everyone would be there to support his aunt, whom he loves dearly, but, as he stated, no one can predict the future. This is why he feels that awareness and preparation are crucial. He wants to share what he knows with his friends and neighbors, saying “I feel it is my professional obligation to share my expertise with the general public. Also, it feels great to be able to do this workshop in my hometown. Roselle Park is an outstanding community and am very proud to say I am a product of this town. Working with people here just feels natural.”

Parking for the workshop is available on the street and in the American Legion parking lot. American Legion Post 60 is located just east of Chestnut Street across from the Wells Fargo drive-up ATM lot. Anyone needing more information can contact Darwin Roman at (908) 590-1653.
