Income-eligible senior citizens will be able to obtain free “Jersey Fresh” vouchers to purchase fruits, vegetables, and herbs on Monday, July 2nd from 1 p.m. to 3 o’clock in the afternoon at the Casano Community Center.
The vouchers are funded by the State of New Jersey Farmers’ Market Program, through the Union County Division on Aging and Disability Resource Connection in the Department of Human Services. Each eligible senior will receive five vouchers worth $5 each for a total of $25.
To be eligible for the vouchers, an individual must be a resident of Union County, age 60 years or older, and have an annual income not to exceed $22,459 for a single person and $30,451 for a combined income/couple. A Medicaid card, SSI, SNAP, annual pension, or Social Security statement may serve as proof of eligibility. Proxies applying on another person’s behalf must present proof of eligibility for that person.
Registration forms are available at the Community Center which is located at 314 Chestnut Street.
