After decades of being occupied by a business, the property at the corner of Oakwood Avenue and West Lincoln Avenue got approval this past Monday to convert the once storefront into a two-bedroom apartment.
Resident Steve Karlik purchased the building from the bank in 2009, he told the Municipal Land Use Board (MLUB) during his application Monday night, and is now ready to begin developing the property.
Board President Loren Harms reminisced about the store from years ago but was pleased with the progress to have someone use the vacant store. After some questioning from the Board regarding impact on egress and parking – Mr. Karlik’s attorney stated there would be none – the MLUB unanimous voted to approve the change of use from commercial to residential.
After the meeting, Mr. Karlik stated, “I’m really happy with the Board’s decision. My team did a really good job and this is a benefit to the town.”
Mr. Karlik stated that once the resolution and required wait period is over, he plans to immediately begin work on the property and sees the project completed by the middle of next year.
