Flags At Half-Staff To Honor Those Killed In Chattanooga Shootings

Roselle Park Mayor Carl Hokanson ordered that flags at Borough Hall be lowered at half-staff today, July 20th, in honor and remembrance of the five servicemen who were killed in the line of duty on Thursday, July 16th in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The lowering of flags in the borough is independent of any national, state, or county order that – as of the publication of this article – have not been given by President Obama, Governor Christie, or the Union County Freeholders.

Mayor Hokanson, himself a United States Marine Corps veteran, commented on the reason for the lowering of flags in show of honor and support, “It’s sad that these brave men served their country in the Middle East and came home believing the bad guys were over there [only] to find out they are now here.”

Flags will remain at half-staff until sundown today in memory of:
