First Of 3 Revaluation Information Sessions Tentatively Set

Among many of the financial responsibilities that were reviewed tonight during this year’s first Municipal Budget Workshop, the topic of the townwide revaluation was discussed among the members of the governing body. During the discussion, the tentative date of Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 7 p.m. was announced for the first of three information sessions on the townwide revaluation. These meetings were part of the contracted obligations of Realty Appraisal Company, the firm that was awarded the contract to perform the revaluation in December of last year.

Subsequent meetings are scheduled for a weeknight and one during the weekend to give residents as much opportunity to attend one of the three. There will be a presentation provided by Realty Appraisal Company that will be followed by a question-answer period to allow the firm to address concerns and inquiries from residents regarding the process. At this time, it appears that each session will provide the same information.

Mayor Carl Hokanson stated regarding the purpose of the session, “It’s so the people themselves can ask the questions to the professionals about the reval.”

The meetings will be publicized as a municipal meeting and will have members of the governing body in attendance as well as the municipality’s tax assessor.

Revaluation notices were sent in the mail today and are expected to reach property owners by the weekend.
