The Farmer’s Market in Michael Mauri Park – at the corner of Chestnut Street and Grant Avenue, had a limited preview of this year’s Market season, which will start in earnest next Wednesday.
Although the first Wednesday in July is the official start of the Farmer’s Market, most of the usual vendors who take part delayed their arrival to town by one week in order to complete their harvest due to the winter which delivered colder than usual weather later in the season, stated coordinator Antonette Signorello.
Two vendors previewed for the Market, a community favorite – Amish Country Bakery out of Pennsylvania – and a new vendor – El Lechon de Negron out of Union Township.
Both will return every Wednesday for the summer. [Editor’s Note: Amish Country Bakery & El Lechon de Negron will both have spotlight articles this weekend.]
Other staple vendors such as Valley View Farms from Newton will be on-hand starting July 9th as well as Miladinov Farm from Monroe Township.
Anyone interested in taking part in the Farmer’s Market or any resident with questions can contact the Casano Community Center at (908) 245-0666 for more information.
