Failure To Stop Violation Ends In Arrest & Impounded Vehicle

On Saturday, September 24, 2011 at approximately 5:56 p.m. on Westfield Avenue near Sheridan Avenue, Patrolman Nicholas Vaughan observed a silver Mazda 6 turn off Sheridan Avenue and westbound onto Westfield Avenue. The vehicle proceeded through the stop sign at the corner without coming to a complete stop disregarding a stop sign.

A check of the license plate revealed that the registration was expired July 2011. A motor vehicle stop on West Westfield Avenue revealed five (5) Bluntville blunt wrappers and one (1) small clear Ziplock bag containing suspected marijuana and one (1) silver metal grinder.

The passenger, Paula Barros, age 30 of Roselle Park, was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana) and 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia) and released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of October 6, 2011.

The driver was issued summonses for 39:4-144 (failure to stop), 39:3-4 (unregistered vehicle), and 39:3-29(c) (failure to possess documents). The vehicle was impounded for expired registration
