Failure To Maintain Lane Violation End In Arrest Of Elizabeth Man

On November 8, 2011 at approximately 1:53 p.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord observed a black BMW traveling in the outside lane of East Westfield Avenue drift into the inside lane then back into its lane of travel. The vehicle drifted twice into the inside lane between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street.

A motor vehicle stop resulted in the discovery of a metal grinder, which is commonly used to prepare marijuana, and one (1) clear plastic Ziplock bag containing suspected marijuana.

The driver, Daniel Pinto, age 22 of Elizabeth, was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana), 2C:26-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia), 39:4-88(b) (failure to maintain lane), 39:3-76.2(f) (failure to wear seatbelt), 39:3-29 (failure to produce valid insurance card), and 39:4-49.1 (CDS in a motor vehicle).

He was released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of November 17, 2011.
