Liene was born and raised in Liepaja, Latvia – on the coast of the Baltic Sea – and is a graduate of Liepaja University. During her early school years she was took several prizes in competitions and her paintings were in numerous exhibitions in the school.
Photography started to interest Liene right after middle school when she borrowed her first camera from her mother. In 1998 she met the late Janis Laditis, international award winning photographer, who became her first and only photography teacher. He helped bring her passion of photography to life.
“Teacher Janis, how I used to call him, passed away only a few months ago. I am dedicating this exhibit to my dear teacher, passionate photographer, photography equipment collector, and simply a person who had an enormous love for life.”
In 2000, Liene participated in three photography exhibits in her hometown Liepaja. Last winter her pictures were once again exhibited there, and she won two prizes in two different categories.
