The second phase of the Raritan Valley Railway Coalition (RVRC) objective to have complete One-Seat Ride to New York City is now slated to start on the evening of Monday, January 12th. Originally anticipated to begin last month, NJ TRANSIT announced in October that evening One-Seat Ride (OSR) service would be postponed due to budgetary constraints. Afterwards, it announced that funding would be secured to have OSR service start at the beginning of 2015.
One-Seat Ride offers commuters in Roselle Park to ride NJ TRANSIT trains – currently Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 1: 40 p.m. – without having to switch trains at Newark Penn Station. Evening service will affect four ride times (8:45 p.m., 10:30 p.m., 11:30 p.m., and 12:20 a.m.) going into Manhattan and five ride times leaving New York City.
The final two phases, weekend and peak hour service, still have no scheduled timetable.
