On June 28, 2011 at 9:02 p.m., Patrolman Edward Nortrup responded to the 100 block of Sherman Avenue on a report of four (4) minors smoking CDS in a red 4-door vehicle. Patrolman Nortrup observed the vehicle parked on Sherman Avenue and observed only one (1) male and female exiting the vehicle. The vehicle was a red Chevy 4-door. While approaching the vehicle, Patrolman Nortup observed smoke coming from the windows of the vehicle and detected the smell of what resembled burning marijuana. An investigation led to the discovery of a partially smoked hand rolled cigar ‘blunt’ and a small plastic bag containing residue of suspected marijuana.
The male, Edwin F. Lovato, age 23, of Elizabeth was placed under arrest, charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana) and 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia). He was later released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of July 7, 2011.
