On April 19, 2011 at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the area of West Westfield Avenue at Columbus Place, Patrolman Richard Gaylord observed a gray Oldsmobile in violation of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Statute 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps). A motor vehicle stop on West Westfield Avenue at Grove Street resulted in the discovery of one (1) small Ziplock bag containing suspected marijuana and EZ-Wider rolling papers in possession of the passenger.
The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps) and released from the scene.
The passenger, Alejandro Cortes, age 20 of Elizabeth, was arrested and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana) and 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia). Mr. Cortes was released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of April 28, 2011.
