Elizabeth Man Arrested For Armed Robbery Of Family Dollar Store

Today at approximately 9:50 a.m., a 9-1-1 call reporting an armed robbery was received from an employee at the Family Dollar located at 7 East Westfield Avenue.

Roselle Park Police responded to the store and were told that the actor fled the scene on foot with approximately $300 in cash and was in possession of a black semi-automatic handgun. The suspect was described as a male, 20s, approximately 5’7, medium build, wearing a black jacket and hood.

Responding officers located a male walking on the 100 block of Chestnut Street who fit the description. The male, later identified as Jamaal Parham, 21 years old from Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana along with several hollow point bullets. Police reported that a further search revealed proceeds from the robbery and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.

Mr. Parham was arrested without incident and charged with the following:

  • 1st degree Armed Robbery
  • 2nd degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
  • 2nd degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose
  • 3rd degree Terroristic Threats
  • 3rd degree Theft
  • 4th degree Aggravated Assault
  • 4th degree Possession of Hollow Point Bullets
  • Possession of CDS (marijuana)

He was lodged into the Union County Jail on $150,000 bail.
