On October 17, 2010 at approximately 8:46 p.m., while observing traffic in the area of 600 W. Westfield Avenue, Patrolman Richard Gaylord observed a blue Honda Civic traveling eastbound on West Westfield Avenue, strike an orange traffic cone. The driver was also in violation of New Jersey Motor Vehicle statute 39:3-76.2F (failure to wear seatbelt). The Honda Civic was traveling through a marked working construction zone. A motor vehicle stop was initiated into Roselle on 1st Avenue at Gordon Street.
The driver, was identified as John Brundage, age 39, of Roselle, NJ.
An investigation led to the discovery of a half consumed bottle of vodka and three (3) wax folds containing a white powdery substance suspected CDS heroin.
Brundage was arrested and charged with 2C:35-10A(1) (possession of heroin), (39:4-50) driving while intoxicated, 39:4-07 (careless driving), 39:4-49.1 (possession of CDS in a motor vehicle) and 39:4-51B (possession of open container of alcohol)
Brundage was committed to Union County jail in lieu of $15,000.00 bail pending a first appearance Superior Court date of October 27, 2010.
