Driver Arrested For DWI And Endangering The Welfare Of Three Minors

Last Wednesday, February 15th, Katherine Y. Bracamonte, age 30 of Avenel, was arrested for endangering the welfare of minors and driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle stop in the area of West Westfield Avenue and Faitoute Avenue.

According to the report, at approximately 11:49 p.m., Officer Kyle Snyder observed a 2015 Nissan traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of West Westfield Avenue at Faitoute Avenue. A motor vehicle stop was conducted. The driver of the vehicle, Katherine Y. Bracamonte, had three (3) passengers in the vehicle – all of which were under the age of seven and none of which were wearing any seatbelts or child seats. Following an on-site investigation, Ms. Bracamonte was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.

She was also issued several motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, consumption of an alcoholic beverage within a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, driving the wrong way on a highway, and failure to use a car seat or restraint for a child under 8-years-old. It was also discovered that Ms. Bracaonte had an outstanding warrant out of Scotch Plains Municipal Court which was satisfied. She was ultimately released into the custody of a family member with a future court date.
