Despite Write-In Fliers, Jacob Magiera Is Not Running For BOE

In a traditional non-partisan school board race that – this year – has involved politics, another name has apparently been added to the seven residents running for the Board of Education (BOE).

Fliers have appeared on some front steps as well as at Sunrise Diner asking residents to write-in the name of resident and contributor to this newspaper, Jacob Magiera, for the BOE.

Although flattered, Mr. Magiera stated that he would not, at this time, accept the position. He also stated that he did not start the campaign or even knew about the fliers until called early Sunday morning for a comment.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the fliers.

Along with contributing to Roselle Park News, Mr. Magiera is known for attending Board Of Education meetings, council meetings, Library Board meetings, Municipal Land Use Board meetings, as well as municipal budget workshops, and asking questions of both elected and appointed officials. Mr. Magiera is himself a former councilman, having served from 1990-1992.

There are currently seven residents officially running for three school board positions. Election Day is November 8th.
