DEP Gives OK To Open Ball Fields

Mayor Joseph Accardi announced at Thursday night’s Mayor & Council meeting that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) approved the Remedial Action Report (RAR) that was submitted to them in December of 2010.

“The Borough of Roselle Park may now open the Ballfield for their intended use,” stated the letter from Haiyesh Shah of NJDEP. The Borough still needs to submit a recorded Deed Notice by April 17, 2011 to the NJDEP; after which time the municipality will have to obtain a Remediation Permit. This letter gives the go ahead to the Roselle Park Youth Baseball & Softball League (RPYBSL) to have their scheduled Grand Opening on April 2, 2011.

The correspondence also addressed the current investigation with the DPW site which is proposed to house senior housing. The Borough was notified to address matters associated with that site to the NJDEP-Bureay of Case Management (BCM).
