A 12-passenger van that will provide free transportation for Roselle Park senior residents has been delivered by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
The van is part of Freeholder Bruce H. Bergen’s “Seniors in Motion” initiative to assist seniors.
Mayor Carl Hokanson, Council-At-Large Charlene Storey, Councilman William Fahoury, and Rupen Shah received the van on behalf of the borough from Freeholder Vice Chairman Sergio Granados – along with Freeholders Angel Estrada, Vernell Wright, and Chris Hudak – who were present to award the vehicle on behalf of the county.
Roselle Park will be responsible for insurance, maintenance, and the provision of qualified drivers who have a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL).
The borough already owns a bus and it is not known if both vehicles will remain in use.
