Councilman Yakubov Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Campaign Sign

Roselle Park Candidate for Mayor and current 5th Ward Councilman Michael Yakubov was arrested last night for allegedly stealing campaign material.

It has been confirmed that Michael Yakubov, age 31 of Roselle Park, was arrested by Roselle Park Police Officers last night, October 25th at 10:50 p.m.

The councilman was charged with Theft of Roselle Park Democratic Party property and Criminal Mischief of said property.

Both charges are Disorderly Persons offenses.

The councilman was released last night from Roselle Park Police Headquarters without bail and has a municipal court date pending.

No further details were provided by the police at this time.

When reached by telephone, Councilman Yakubov stated he had no comment.

When contacted, Council-At-Large and Roselle Park Mayor candidate Carl Hokanson replied regarding the incident, “It is an ongoing investigation so I cannot comment at this time.”

More information to be released when the OPRA (Open Public Records Act) request for the Police Incident Report is responded to by the RPPD
