It has been confirmed with the Union County Clerk’s office that first ward councilman Larry Dinardo has submitted his official request to withdraw and have his name removed from the ballot for the General Election in November. The deadline for a candidate nominated in the Primary Election to withdraw from the General Election is tomorrow, September 13th.
This marks the third Primary Candidate to drop out of this year’s municipal election. Richard Huxford, the Republican Primary candidate for the 1st ward and current chair of the Roselle Park Republican Committee, submitted his request as did 2nd ward Democratic candidate John F. Kennedy (article link). The only confirmed notice to fill a vacancy for a Primary Election nominee was that of Andrew Casais as the 1st ward Republican candidate.
The deadline to have a vacancy filled to replace a Party candidate is Thursday, September 15th.
Repeated calls to councilman Dinardo were not returned. Richard Huxford could not be reached for comment in time for this article.
