A week after the Municipal Land Used Board (MLUB) voted to designate eight (8) lots along West Westfield Avenue as an Area In Need Of Redevelopment, Roselle Park’s governing body voted to have a Redevelopment Plan prepared for those parcels.
This plan, along with the hiring of a Special Counsel for the Area In Need of Redevelopment, will move the borough forward to have development talks start. The Borough Engineer, Neglia Engineering, was appointed to prepare the Redevelopment Plan for an amount not to exceed $26,500.00. Special Counsel services will be performed by Joseph P. Baumann, Jr. of the firm McManimon, Scotland & Baumann, LLC in Roseland, NJ. Those services were approved in the amount of $10,000.00 by the governing body at the December 17th Mayor & Council meeting under Resolution 331-15.
The MLUB will be formalizing their December 21st designation at their re-organization meeting on Monday, January 4, 2016. It is expected that council will then vote to follow the MLUB’s recommendation and formally designate 218-256 West Westfield Avenue as an Area Of Redevelopment.
A developer, as of yet, has not been publicly announced nor has any proposed use – whether it be commercial or residential – or possible tenants been announced. The subsequent questions and discussions from the public and municipality should follow once that information has been revealed.
