Children’s Summer Art Workshop Exhibit This Month At CAG

“Twisted Tales – Children’s Summer Art Workshop” a group exhibit of artwork by students of Roselle Park resident Lynnor Bontigao will be on display at the Casano Art Gallery (CAG) through October 17, 2014.

There will be a reception to meet the young artists on Wednesday, September 17th, from 6 p.m. till 7:30 in the evening.

Lynnor Bontigao has been teaching Basic Art Workshop during the summer seasons to a few Roselle Park neighborhood children since 2012.

The idea of the theme “Twisted Tales” came to her after attending a recent conference. For her entry to the art show which had the theme “Down the Shore”, Lynnor took inspiration from NJ beaches and boardwalks.

“What if Alice fell into the shore (Wondershore) instead of the rabbit hole leading to Wonderland?”, she thought.

The idea of combining a known character with a different setting to produce a different scene altogether was born.

She asked her students to take a popular story or nursery rhyme and put their own twist to it.

The artwork not only shows artistic abilities but story-telling skills as well. They each chose one scene and illustrated their own version of the story in a single page.

These talented artists range in age from 6 through 13.

The participants in this exhibit are: Eric Bruckenstein, Kassandra Cordero, Angelina George, Julian George, Mayson Harms, Edward Kennedy, Vanna Mendoza, Jacob Ortiz, Sofia Ortiz, Tristan Pama, and Grace Vita.

The Art Gallery is located in the Casano Community Center at 314 Chestnut Street. The Casano Community Center and the Art Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday till 5 in the afternoon.
