Car Reported Stolen From 7-Eleven On Westfield Avenue

On October 3, 2011 at approximately 9:07 p.m., police responded to 565 West Westfield Avenue (7-Eleven convenience store) for a report of a motor vehicle theft. The caller stated that he parked his vehicle in the 7-Eleven parking lot and left his 2007 silver Nissan Murano running as he went inside to buy some items. As he exited the 7-Eleven, he saw his vehicle driving away on West Westfield Avenue. A county alarm was put out and the vehicle was entered in the NCIC as stolen.

A view of the surveillance footage revealed negative results for a suspect description. The footage did reveal a gray 4-door vehicle pull behind the victim’s car and stop for a short period of time. The gray vehicle then drove away with the victim’s vehicle following behind. The two vehicles made a left turn onto Valley Road and then proceeded to turn westbound onto Westfield Avenue towards Cranford. The gray vehicle also appeared to stop traffic for the victim’s vehicle as it drove westbound on West Westfield Avenue. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact Roselle Park Police at (908) 245-2300.
