A solo exhibit of calligraphy by Roselle Park resident Ed Beissel entitled “Poems That Touch the Heart” will be on display through February 13, 2015.
A reception will be held to meet with the artist on Wednesday, January 28th, from 5 p.m. till 7 in the evening.
Working at his craft for over 30 years, Ed most recently has taken selections from “Poems That Touch the Heart” by A.L. Alexander and – using pen and colored ink – has personalized them with his own style by rendering them on the page.
What first start with lettering on china as well as personalizing baby cups and items for anniversary remembrances, Ed progressed to poems on paper when his wife was in a nursing home. It was there that he crafted a poem in calligraphy for a fellow resident’s husband.
Additionally, the calligrapher has offered his artistry to produce poems for fundraising for the Friends of the Roselle Park Veterans Memorial Library.
The Casano Art Gallery is located in the Casano Community Center at 314 Chestnut Street and is open from Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday till 5 in the afternoon.
