On Monday, March 21, 2011 at approximately 1:55 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to the 100 block of West Westfield Avenue on a report of a burglary to an apartment. The victim observed that the entry door had visible pry marks around the handle and deadbolt. The victim advised officers that he left his residence at approximately 1 p.m. and returned at approximately 3:50 p.m. when he found that the apartment had been burglarized.
Police entered and searched the apartment which yielded negative for suspect(s). The victim reported that there was a Sony PlayStation and a Nintendo Wii game console both missing from a television cart. The bedroom was ransacked and the victim also reported a Sony digital video camera and several pieces of jewelry missing.
Prior to leaving, the victim noted remembering seeing a blue style work van with red lettering parked in the driveway of 177 West Westfield Avenue – located directly west of the apartment building. The victim stated that he had never seen the van there before. He described a male standing outside the van as Hispanic, unknown height, mid 30’s.
