Break-In Reported On Westfield Avenue

On April 25, 2011 at approximately 12:20 p.m. while on patrol, Patrolmen Mitchell White and Joshua Medrano responded to a call of a reported burglary of an apartment on the 100 block of East Westfield Avenue. Officers observed a window screen laying on the ground to the left of the stairs on the left side of the building. The screen appeared to be torn in the corners. The victim stated they left the apartment at 9 a.m. and returned at 12:15 p.m. to find the door unlocked. Upon entering they also noticed the kitchen window was open and the screen was missing.

Officers then entered the apartment to clear it for suspects. Upon clearing the apartment it was noticed that all the dresser drawers in the bedroom and kitchen were ransacked.

A canvass of the surrounding area and resident revealed no prior suspicious activity. The resident did not report anything stolen from the apartment.

Another resident stated the screen was observed on the ground at 10:45 am.

Detective Keith Wintermute is investigating this case.
