Borough Clerk To Retire February 1, 2017

After more than a decade as Roselle Park’s borough clerk, Doreen Cali has officially notified the borough that she will be retiring on February 1, 2017.

The retirement was unofficially known for months but the matter had been announced in a political flier this year by the Roselle Park Democratic Committee (RPDC) in October.

Ms. Cali was appointed in 2006 to replace Arlene Triano who retired at the end of the previous year. In 2009, Ms. Cali was narrowly re-appointed under Resolution 32-09 for the purposes of tenure with a 3-3 council vote going down political party lines with then council-at-large Carl Hokanson voting against the tenured appointment. Then-mayor Joseph DeIorio broke the tie and voted in the affirmative to have Ms. Cali retain her position.

Since coming to Roselle Park, Ms. Cali has had her share of supporters as well as detractors.

Once approved, the municipality will then have a little under seven weeks to appoint a new borough clerk. For some time now, Donna Corrigan has been the acting borough clerk for Mayor & Council meetings.

Resolution 298-16 is scheduled to be voted on during the December 15th Mayor & Council meeting at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall which is located at 110 East Westfield Avenue.
