2018 BOE Committee Appointments

Part of being a school board member – in addition to voting on policy and making financial decisions on the education of children – is taking part in committees that allow for research and discussions on topics that usually end up before the entire board for a formal vote.

The Roselle Park Board Of Education (BOE) had eight of its nine members appointed to seven committees and as liaisons to 15 different governing bodies and commissions. It is standing operating procedure that the board president – in this case, Loren Harm – is an ex-officio and is appointed to all committees by default.

The Board Operations Committee deals with policies that the BOE has reviewed and worked over the past couple of years. The Negotiation Committee will be working on the three-year collective bargaining agreements for teachers, administrators, custodians, and paraprofessionals.

Kevin Cancino, the youngest BOE member, was appointed to four (4) committees – the most of any other member – with Troy Gerten, Matthew Leingang, and Christopher Miller each appointed to three (3) committees.
