Attempted Burglary Reported On E. Westfield Ave.

On May 15, 2011 at 12:26 p.m., Patrolman Alexander Lanza responded to the 400 block of East Westfield Avenue on the report of an attempted burglary. Upon arrival the complainant stated that at 12 p.m., she noticed that the back door of her residence was open.

Upon further inspection she noticed that her exterior screen door screen had been forced open. She also noticed that a piece of furniture located in front of a rear window had been moved. The victim did not believe the actor(s) gained further entry because a third door which leads to the interior of the residence was locked and had not been opened. The victim suspected the attempted entry occurred at approximately 6 a.m. when her two (2) dogs ran to the rear door and began to bark.

Police observed small pry marks on the rear door’s jam, and indentations in the frame of a barred rear window.
