Attempted Break-In Reported On West Clay Avenue

On Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 1:30 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to 300 block of West Clay Avenue on a report of a possible burglary. Upon arrival, Patrolmen Alexander Lanza and Robert Sobocinski met the caller outside of his apartment building. The victim stated that after returning home to his apartment, he observed fresh pry marks on his door. The victim stated his door was secured upon his arrival, but was unsure if anyone was inside.

The victim stated that he left his residence at noon and at that time his door was secure and undisturbed. Patrol officers Lanza, Sobocinski, Cantrell, and Antonucci cleared the residence and building with negative results for suspects. Pry marks were also observed on the doors to two (2) additional apartments.

The victim stated that he did not believe entry was gained into his residence, stating nothing was disturbed. Pry marks were also discovered on the building’s southern entrance. A subsequent search and canvass of the surrounding area was negative.
