Arrest Of Resident With Outstanding Warrants

On November 2, 2010 at about 10:04 p.m., while traveling southbound on Hemlock Street, Patrolman Kevin Florczak observed a blue Dodge with its brake light out. The vehicle was in violation of 39:3-66, resulting in a motor vehicle stop on Hemlock Street at East Clay Avenue. The driver was identified as Angelo Chavez, age 31, of Roselle Park.

It was revealed that Chavez had several outstanding warrants and a suspended driver’s license. Chavez exited the vehicle and was found to be in possession of a clear bag containing suspected marijuana. At that time Chavez was placed under arrest and charged with 2c:35-10(a)(4)(poss. Of marijuana) and motor vehicle summonses for 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps); 39:3-40 (suspended driver); and 39:4-49.1 (possession of CDS in a motor vehicle). Chavez had the following active warrants: Union- $750.00, Harrison- $644.00, Irvington- $350.00, Newark- $350.00, Newark- $200.00

Union Police took custody of Mr. Chavez pending a future Roselle Park Court date of November 10, 2010.
