On December 5, 2011 at 11:48 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to the Welsh Farms convenience store located at 521 West Westfield Avenue on a report of an armed robbery by three (3) males.
The first male pulled out a handgun and went to the cash register. The other two (2) males also entered and joined the first male at the cash register. A small amount of cash and cigars were taken. The store clerk was not injured.
Security video recorded the three (3) suspects during the robbery:
- Suspect #1 is a black male wearing a black jacket with the hood up, and a baseball cap. The suspect, who had scratches around eyes, was the one with the handgun.
- Suspect #2 is a black male wearing a black jacket with white reflective stripes or markings on the outside of both sleeves, blue jeans, and sneakers.
- Suspect #3 is a black or Hispanic male wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket, and a red bandana covering his face.
All suspects were last observed running through the parking lot of Welsh Farms fleeing on foot northbound on Bridge Street.
It is possible suspects were driving a light colored small sedan similar to a Saturn.
A search of the area by police and the Union County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit did not reveal the suspects. A county alarm was broadcast to surrounding agencies.
Earlier this year, the same location was robbed at gunpoint in March. Detective Matthew Disano is investigating this crime. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roselle Park Police at (908) 245-2300.
