The Roselle Park Municipal Land Use Board (MLUB) meeting scheduled for tomorrow, April 17th, has been canceled.
This meeting was to have the developer of the Hawthorne property return for a continuance of the application hearing for the former Leberco Labs property on Hawthorne Street. In March, the developer proposed a small apartment complex with commercial property targeted towards professional services on the bottom floor. The issue for the Land Use Board and residents in the area was the number of parking spaces required – per ordinance – that the applicant wanted to have waived. Residents in the area were concerned that those vehicles would cause ever-growing issues with parking in the neighborhood.
Instead of having the MLUB vote on the application, which would most likely have resulted in a denial, the applicant chose to return to the board with a new application that would address parking. Members of the board specifically stated that the applicant should return with an application that has significant changes and not simply the same application with one or two minor alterations.
The April meeting was canceled by the applicant and due to no other necessary agenda items, the entire meeting has been canceled.
The next scheduled MLUB meeting is set for Monday, May 15th, at the Roselle Park Municipal Complex.
