Starting in 1977, Giuseppe and Brigida Padovano, or Joe & Bridget as they are better known, would greet customers at J&P Deli located at the corner of West Webster Avenue and Williow Avenue with coffee, bread, pizza, deli sandwiches, chips, and a warm smile. A little over 25 years later, they sold the business – along with the rights to the name – and let someone else try their hand at providing Roselle Park with quality food at a reasonable price. Now, they find themselves coming back to the town they were a part of for a quarter of a century. The name is now Webster Deli and although it might be new, the food and smiles are still the same.
Open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Joe & Bridget serve not only deli sandwiches & subs, but they also have hot foods, bread, chips, soda, ice cream, coffee, and even lottery. In addition to all that, they cater and prepare football platters for their customers and they now accept credit cards.
When asked why they came back to Roselle Park, Joe quickly replies, “It was the people, the town. The work is hard but the people make it worth it.”
Webster Deli is located at 314 West Webster Avenue by the EJF/Aldene Elementary School and is open six days a week. They are currently taking orders for Super Bowl Sunday. Their phone number is (908) 245-1254.
