A Conversation With First Ward Candidate Eugene Meola

This year, current First Ward Councilman Eugene Meola is running for re-election to retain his position. Mr. Meola first got involved with local elected office when he was appointed to the first ward as its representative for three months in 2011 after the resignation of Larry Dinardo.

Having run that year unsuccessfully for a full term, Mr. Meola ran again in 2014 and won his current position. Since then, he has filed as an independent candidate and is currently running without any political party backing.

Mr. Meola sat and talked about his time in office, his past decisions, future plans, and his take on the current state of affairs in his ward as well as the borough.

Below is the audio of the conversation Mr. Meola had with Roselle Park News. There are three (3) individuals running for the first ward this year and only one other candidate, Jayme Lynn Negron (another Bloomfield native), sat for an interview and it can be heard here (link). Maxine Padulsky did not participate.
