Roselle Park’s Knights of Columbus Msgr. Joseph Loreti Council #3240, in cooperation with the Church of the Assumption, will be holding their very popular annual Trunk or Treat.
Started four years ago as a way to have a safe, fun place to have children trick-or-treat as well as wear their costumes after Superstorm Sandy put a hamper on traditional trick-or-treating, the community-wide event will be held on Saturday, Halloween morning, from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. at the church parking lot on Chiego Place between West Clay Avenue and West Westfield Avenue.
The event is open and free to all members of the community. DJ music will be donated and provided by DJ Jeff McNair or ONFIRE Entertainment who can be reached at (908) 591-0702.
There will be children’s games and many other family friendly activities. There will also be several prizes for children’s costumes and several for decorated trunks. Several local businesses will be providing prizes or goods or services and Trinitas Regional Medical Center has signed on as one of the event’s sponsors.
“We are pleased once again, to offer a safe and fun environment for families to come together as a community,” said Bryan Peterson, President of the Knights of Columbus #3240.
Those participating and decorating their vehicles can arrive to the church parking lot at 10:15 a.m. to set up their cars and tables with candies and decorations. Members of the Knights of Columbus will be on hand for traffic control and assistance. While it is not required to decorate a trunk for admission, it should be noted that only decorated vehicles will be allowed in the lot – all others may park on the street.
Monetary donations will be accepted from anyone participating in the “Trunk or Treat” to help the Knights of Columbus continue to provide family based community events in the future. However, there is no admission fee and donations are not required.
“We’re planning to make this the biggest and best Trunk or Treat to date. We’re all working hard to bring a great community event and day to the Borough’s residents,” stated Bob Milici, Chairman of the event.
In the event of inclement weather, a rain date of Sunday, November 1st, is planned between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
