3 Arrested For Smoking Marijuana In Michael Mauri Park

At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13th, Patrolman Florczak, while on foot patrol, detected the odor of burning marijuana in the area of Municipal Parking Lot 2, located on Chestnut Street between Charles Street and East Grant Avenue.

He then observed three (3) individuals standing under the gazebo, passing a cigarette back and forth. As one of the individuals noticed the approaching police officer, he discarded the object into nearby bushes. A further investigation revealed that the three (3) individuals were smoking a suspected marijuana cigarette. The cigarette was recovered and secured. The following individuals were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana:

  • Egbert A. Moran, 20-year-old male from Elizabeth, NJ
  • Jesus Funes, a 20-year-old male from Roselle, NJ
  • A 15-year-old juvenile female from Linden, NJ

Moran and Funes were processed and released pending an appearance in Roselle Park Municipal Court. The juvenile female was released to her parents and she has an appearance pending in Union County Family Court.
