3 Arrested For Possession Of CDS After Radar Stop

On November 12, 2011 at about 8:03 a.m., while conducting stationary radar on West Westfield Avenue, Patrolman Kevin Florczak observed a silver Cadillac traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed – 50 MPH in a 35 MPH zone – in violation of 39:4-98. The vehicle was also in violation of 39:3-75 (safety glass).

A motor vehicle stop resulted in the discovery of one (1) silver dagger, one (1) small clear Ziplock bag containing suspected CDSs marijuana, and one (1) clear plastic bag tied into a knot which contained suspected marijuana.

Deandre Scott, age 22 of Elizabeth, Rachel Rencher, age 23 of Jersey City, and Lilian Ferreras-DeJesus, age 23 of Jersey City, were placed under arrest. All parties were charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana).

Mr. Scott was additionally charged with 2C:39-3(e) (unlawful possession of a weapon), 39:4-98 (speeding), and 39:3-75 (safety glass). All parties were released pending a Superior Court date of November 21, 2011.
