At Thursday night’s municipal meeting, the governing body officially accepted the resignation of two crossing guards and promoted one alternate crossing guard.
Michael Maiorelli’s resignation as an Alternate Crossing Guard which already took effect on November 21st was retroactively accepted.
Crossing Guard Thomas Thompson submitted his resignation effective December 3rd and that was accepted retroactively as well by council.
The governing body promoted Alternate Crossing Guard Gerald E. Vitale to the position of Crossing Guard to be paid $67.26 per day.
An Alternate Crossing Guard position is still open. Alternates are to be available in case a crossing guard is unavailable to work at a certain time or on a certain day.
Also during the December 6th meeting, a parent asked if a crossing guard could be made available before 7:30 in the morning in order to help cross students who have ‘zero period’ classes which start at 7:15 a.m. The governing body stated they would bring the recommendation to the Roselle Park Police Department since crossing guards are under the authority of the police.
