1st Ward Councilman Wants To Celebrate New Additions To Families

First Ward Councilman Eugene Meola wants constituents in his ward to notify him of births and new family additions so he can help announce and celebrate new Roselle Park residents.

“I would like people in the first ward to contact me about a birth of a child,” said the councilman at Thursday night’s Mayor & Council meeting, “I would love to speak about someone being born instead of talking about . . . losing someone.”

Councilman Meola was referring to the loss of Ed Tobe, a long-time Roselle Park resident and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3240 who passed away November 2nd. A moment of silence was observed at the start of the meeting for Mr. Tobe as well as Bill Bujanowski Sr. and Robert Colucci. Condolences were also given by numerous council members during their reports. He said, noticeably saddened, “I’m not very good sometimes when people pass away.”

The councilman stated that he was going to buy a giant stork [sign] for a boy and one for a girl. He added, “If a first ward person calls me up, I’ll place it in front of their house as long as they want it, and I mean this.”

Anyone wishing to share the announcement of a new family member can contact Councilman Eugene Meola via e-mail at emeola@rosellepark.net or by phone at (908) 666-7824.
