On July 30, 2011 at 11:02 p.m., Patrolmen John Deegan, Robert Harms, and Wartovnick Adamski responded to Colonial Road on a report of juveniles drinking in the street. On arrival, officers observed a group of approximately five (5) juveniles standing on the corner of Colonial Road and Bender Avenue. Upon approaching the group, Patrolman Deegan observed a 17-year-old male from Roselle Park throw a white object onto the front lawn of a residence located on the corner where they were standing. Patrolman Deegan retrieved the object the juvenile discarded – a white hand-rolled cigarette ‘joint’ containing suspected CDS marijuana. The 17-year-old was placed under arrest.
Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of the rest of the group of juveniles.
The group was then taken into protective custody and transported to headquarters.
The 17-year-old male was charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) and released to his parents. The other juveniles, three (3) 17-year-old males and one (1) 16-year-old female, all from Roselle Park, were released to their parents.
